Think like an engineer: Design a custom part for a VEX robot

A key aspect of design innovation involves the ability to analyze existing design solutions to determine areas for improvement with respect to factors such as enhanced functionality, aesthetics, ease of operation, reduction of manufacturing costs through smart material choices, and reduction of required parts.

 

Get creative with design in class

In this project you will engage in new product development by exploring ways to create a higher performing VEX robot that’s a more formidable opponent in the robotics competition arena.  You will model and test your best design in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Fusion 360 software and experiment with rapid prototyping using technology like 3D printing or laser cutting to produce a prototype of your custom part.
