Introduction to CAD with Tinkercad and Fusion 360

In this course, we'll use both Autodesk® Tinkercad™ and Autodesk® Fusion 360™ to create and modify a simple CAD design for digital manufacture. We'll begin by using Tinkercad to create an eco-friendly design for a carrier bag holder. We'll take that design further using Fusion 360 CAD/CAM.

This beginner level CAD course is ideal for those who are new to 3D modeling software and are interested in exploring how CAD can be used to create professional 3D models and prototypes. The step-by-step instructions will guide you through the initial design in Tinkercad then show you how to send this to Fusion 360, where you'll add features for digital manufacture, create technical drawings, and produce photorealistic cloud renders. At the end of the course, you'll be able to apply your new 3D modeling skills and knowledge to create professional CAD models and prototypes for all your own concepts.

If you’re looking to take your CAD designs to the next level, this short course has been developed to guide you through the process and have you up and running in developing CAD designs, photorealistic cloud renders, and technical drawings for professional 3D models.

After completing this course, you'll be able to:

  • Use Tinkercad to model, align and group parts, cut holes, add custom text, and specify dimensions.
  • Use Tinkercad to export and download designs for laser cutting and 3D printing, send designs to Autodesk® Fusion 360™ and 3D communities.
  • Use Fusion 360 to create and modify parts for 3D printing, as well as create technical drawings, inspect, measure and join parts using assembly modeling techniques.
  • Use Fusion 360 to assign physical materials and appearances to CAD models, and set up and create photorealistic cloud renders of your designs.
