Model and Assemble a 3D Printer Extruder
A 3D printer extruder is a complex assembly comprised of multiple components and materials, including both static and moving parts. The main function of the extruder is to heat plastic filament and feed it through the hot end where it's carefully deposited onto the 3D printer bed in order to make 3D printed parts. There are many different designs for plastic filament extruders and they can all be engineered in multiple ways.
In this course, we'll use 2D sketching and 3D parametric modeling techniques to create the 3D printer extruder CAD model in Autodesk® Fusion 360™. We'll also learn how to model and manage complex assemblies, linking assemblies and components to the 3D printer extruder assembly, as well as inserting off-the-shelf components from McMaster-Carr. We'll use CAD techniques to create sketch planes, profiles, add chamfers, and extrude to solid 3D models. We'll also learn how to position components using align tools and how to use assembly modeling techniques to move and join components using as-built Joints, rigid joints, revolute joints, and rigid groups.
After completing this course, you'll be able to:

- Insert and link assemblies and components into the current design.
